My name is Chris Cummings, I’m a golfer from Belfast Northern Ireland playing out of Holywood Golf Club, home of Rory McIlroy. I am currently in pursuit of college golf in the United States at the highest level I can attain. I truly believe that I am capable of playing golf at the highest level and am willing to put in as much work and effort needed to achieve this. I have worked as hard as I can over the last number of years and am now reaping the rewards dropping my scoring average by more than 10 shots in the last year and it is continuing to drop. For the last number of years I have been disciplined in practicing and training everyday to help both my competitive golf and my team from Holywood Golf club, both with physically scoring well for them and allowing them to have the confidence in me that I can perform under pressure. I hope to continue to my golfing career in the USA, playing college golf and continuing to develop my game to the highest level possible to aid both my own personal game and my team, whoever that may be once I start my college golf career. I cannot wait to get started and work with amazing coaches and play with amazing people.

What makes you different?
For roughly two to three years my golf game was stalled, I could not score well or get my handicap down. I was rarely picked for teams at my golf club and school and was seen as a weekend golfer rather than a competitive player. However I have finally found success and have only achieved this through sheer hard work and discipline, practicing and training everyday for hours trying to lower my scores, get picked for teams both in school and at my club both of which I have now achieved dropping my scoring average by over ten shots which I have previously stated, and getting picked for teams and competing at a national level in All Ireland events and Ulster events. I have been handed this opportunity by ASM and will not waste it as I have worked for this for many years now and being my dream I will do everything I can to achieve it.
Why do you want to compete in college?
Golf is my absolute passion. My goal/aspiration is to play golf at the highest level and I believe that college golf is the next step in that process. Having played golf at a local and national level as a junior I have come to really enjoy and love being part of a team environment. I love the feeling of having your team mates back and knowing that they have mine also. Playing team events has given me some of my best memories and I wish to continue this through college.
My college goals are simple, to play golf at the highest level and to win the NCAA Championship. Playing college golf is my dream, because of this when I start my college career I will work as hard as possible and push and help my teammates in any way they need to in order to achieve these goals.
