About Athlete
My name is Gabriella (Gaby) Sutton.
I am a fun loving, happy person, enjoying life. I am in my first year studying for A-Levels in Biology, Physical Education and Psychology at Rushcliffe Spencer Academy, Nottingham England. The subjects having been chosen are to assist me in looking to secure a role within a sporting environment, along with continuing in my own sporting activities.
My love lies within my sport. I am a 400m track athlete and I have been a competing athlete since the age of 10. There is no better feeling than a hard training session, building up my training towards a good start early track season.
In terms of where I am looking to take my studying and sport, my dream is to take this to America and work through the collegiate system.
The focus of US colleges on sport, the team ethos, exceptional facilities, full time college coaching, with medical support. I do believe this will enable me to thrive as an athletic and find great friendship groups. The experience will be unlike anything the UK could provide for me.
I am a committed athlete, having competed nationally over the last few years, looking to continue to progress my athletics career onto the next level.
In my early athletic years, I also undertook multi-sports, these being as a County hockey player and member of Beeston Hockey Club and in my younger years competing in an elite channel in gymnastics. These experiences taught me that hard work and determination are truly rewarded, and this is how I view my approach to my sport, along with life in general.

Additional sporting info
I have a real love of competing. This is the time to shine and I have often recorded personal bests at larger events. I have a deep threshold for training. Having previously competed as an endurance athlete, painful / hard training sessions are not something I shy way from.

What makes you different?
I have real drive. I want to better my performances and take race wins, but I also want those around me to take the same journey. In my experience of being a gymnast, we trained 22 hours per week. My team mates were also my friends. I worked hard perfecting skills, strengthening core, to become a better athlete and the hard work paid off. I too though encouraged my team mates during sessions, helping them if they needed so that we all took ourselves and the team forward.
Why do you want to compete in college?
It is my dream to take my athletics to the next level. The only way to undertake this with the focus that I desire is to take my study and sport to the US. Sport is such a bigger part of the culture in the US, especially so through college years, that this completely draws me down this path. I am looking towards D1 and D2 colleges for my degree and sporting career.
College Goals?
I am looking to live on campus and take in the full college experience. This is a very exciting part of my future and for a long time now this has been in the US. Being in an environment where I have access to high quality education whilst accessing the best mentoring for my sport to enable me to achieve my goals. I am looking forward to meeting like minded people, who will also drive my determination to reach the full capacity of my talents and strengths.
Anything else we should know?
This next track season I am looking for more assured performances. I am confident in my abilities and will take on any performances with maximum effort, but with the knowledge that each performance can be reviewed / have feedback on as this is the only way to truly improve.
