About Athlete

My goal would be to play division 1 college tennis and to get an honours degree in ecology. I am a motivated player and academic who works hard but smart in order to obtain my goals. I would like to go beyond just representing my college team and strive to raise the bar so that the next players who come in after me and the team have to either obtain that level and spirit or beat it. I have been playing tennis for over six years and have the drive and mindset to reach top 100 in the ATP rankings.

Awards, press

I have won several national championships in Eswatini and multiple Lowveld junior tennis tournaments (Mpumalanga, South Africa). I also got to semifinals twice in ITF j5 doubles. I have appeared in the local newspaper a fair bit for representing my country in various southern African countries by playing ITF zonals and general ITF tournaments.

Additional sporting info

I have been playing tennis (more seriously) since I was eleven and I recently changed my technique so that I am now more efficient on the court and am preventing myself from injury. I played multiple sports whilst being at school and took soccer quite seriously in my younger years. I have also done swimming, volleyball, cricket, footsal, padel, squash, cycling and hockey. I played for a professional under 20 football club by the name of Mbabane Swallows when I was 11 years of age.

What makes you different?

What makes me different is my relentless work ethic and commitment to getting better. Every single time I step on the court I leave nothing but sweat behind and am always eager to learn and expand my knowledge of the game in order to improve. Often people after a bad session will come back down or wont even come back until the’ve rested themselves but with me I come back as soon as possible with a positive mindset and find myself more motivated to get better. I also find myself very self driven which makes me not feed of other peoples energy which helps me stay focused on the court. I find that with my work ethics and relentlessness to always come back no matter what happens on court is what it really takes to become a champion in any sport.

Why do you want to compete in college?

First of all, I feel like it’s a gateway to the pro circuit. you get to play a lot of matches which would up your match confidence and exposure to all different kinds of plays massively, get ATP points, improve your game tremendously and make friends that will also most probably go pro. I feel like it gets you to be much more of a competitor and a team player due to yourself playing not only for you but something much bigger! a team.

College Goals?

Academic wise I would want to get an honours or masters degree in ecology depending on how long I would want to stay in college. Sporting wise I would want to be the fittest I have ever been, play in the top three seeds for my college, get and improve my ATP points, and lastly win as many matches for my team as possible.

Anything else we should know?

I come from an adventurous family and grew up spending much of my time in the outdoors. I love spontaneous adventures whether it would be jumping off waterfalls, cycling in the rain and lightning or hiking in the verdant green game reserves of Eswatini. I did a lot of rock climbing, paddling, mtb, camping and bird rehabilitation when I was younger and recently acquired the hobby of beekeeping and antipoaching which both require you to be physically fit and mentally strong. I can operate a fair number of farm equipment vehicles including driving farm utility cars, tractor and TLB driving as well as quad biking.
