About Athlete

My name is Mackenzie Mills and I am a student athlete in Vancouver, BC Canada that will be graduating in 2025 from Notre Dame Secondary school and am looking to play Varsity Div 1 soccer at University. I currently play in the BCSPL league with Fusion FC on the 2007 girls team as a Centreback and have been the Captain of the team for the past two years. As well, I played for the Varsity soccer team as a starter at Notre Dame Highschool this year, winning the AA Provincial High school championship last year and placing second this year.

Last year, with my Fusion FC team, we won the U15 BC Provincial Premier cup for our league and went to Nationals in PEI, placing 5th overall in the nation. As well, last year I was part of a Fusion Elite 2006/2007 girls team that competed in the Surf College Cup, Best of the Best bracket and won it!

This year, I participated in the FTF March Break combine in Vancouver where I played in an individual showcase and received Player of the Match for one of the games. At the end of this showcase, I was selected as one of the Starting 11 All Star First Team as a Centreback. FTF completed a Top 65 across the nation and I ranked #23, being only one of the top Centrebacks. At the end of the BCSPL season, FTF also named a BCSPL All Star U16 Team and I was named as the First Team Starting 11.

I am a driven all round athlete that was awarded the Athlete of the Year, Top Defender for Soccer and Most Valuable Player for field hockey at my highschool this year. I am mature and confident in my abilities as a person and athlete.

As a Centreback, I am confident with possessing the ball out of the back, making decisions on whether to send through the midfield or a long ball to the forward. My 1 v 1 defensive skills are impeccable and I am able to communicate clearly and effectively to my teammates.

What makes you different?

I am a strong centreback that is not afraid to go for the ball. I am excellent at defensive headers, communicating to teammates from the back and being versatile in knowing when to distribute the ball to the midfield or a long ball to the forwards. I feel like when I play my presence is known. I have a way of bringing everyone on the team together.

Why do you want to compete in college?

Soccer and sport are part of my life and I can't imagine not competing in college. I want to be on a team that challenges me daily to improve. I want to meet like minded teammates that I can call friends for life.

College Goals?

I would like to go to a D1 soccer university where both my academic & athletic goals are met. I would like to be on a team where I will be playing in my first year of college but also be challenged to improve and get better. I would like to get a good education in Business or Psychology and continue to achieve a high GPA each year.

Anything else we should know?

I have played a lot of different sports all my life including soccer. I played field hockey at a competitive level for a long time until I didn't have enough time to play both. Fun fact would be I was part of a Circus program for several years and I know how to ride a unicycle!
